“Endgame” Airs Tonight at 9PM

“Every ten minutes, someone in the U.S. contracts HIV. Half are Black. Thirty years after the discovery of the AIDS virus among gay white men, nearly half of the one million people in the United States infected with HIV are black men, women and children. “If Black America was a country unto itself, it would have the 16th worst epidemic in the world,” says Phill Wilson, head of the Black AIDS Institute. A FRONTLINE special two-hour presentation, Endgame: AIDS in Black America, airing Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 9 p.m. ET on PBS, is a groundbreaking two-hour exploration of one of the country’s most urgent, preventable health crises.”
Philly Faith in Action, with the Black AIDS Institute, will screen this program locally in fall 2012.

“The Gospel of Healing Volume I: Black Churches Respond to HIV/AIDS is a feature-length documentary film that profiles five (5) innovative models of faith-based HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and/or care primarily targeting African American communities.Viewers will learn how these HIV health ministries were established, what factors contribute to their effectiveness in their communities, what were their common views  on faith, healing and the role of the church as the Black community’s primary source of social justice and leadership, in the post-civil rights era. The Gospel of Healing is a provocative film that goes beyond discussing the prevalence of HIV/AIDS in the Black community.”Philly Faith in Action, with Ascender Communications, will screen this movie locally in fall 2012.For more information about the film, visit www.thegospelofhealing.com

DC Pastor in Washington Post: “I got tested because I believe Jesus would get tested.”

Rev. Aaron Graham writes about his experience getting tested on National HIV Testing Day 2012 in The Washington Post.

I got tested because I believe Jesus would get tested. I got tested because, if Jesus were walking the streets of D.C. today I’m convinced he would be hanging out with those who are positive. Sick people always seem to find friendship and healing by being with Jesus.”
