Philly Faith in Action is pleased to announce a new HIV testing and awareness campaign developed in partnership with the Kaiser Family Foundation’s Greater Than AIDS campaign. This program posts billboards throughout Philadelphia that feature faith leaders promoting HIV testing.


In October, Philly Faith in Action will screen the documentary film The Gospel of Healing (, which highlights the work of African American churches to reduce the impact of HIV/AIDS in their communities across the country. Local screenings will be held October 16th and 18th; be sure to save the date!

Philly Faith in Action and Greater Than AIDS Launch Philadelphia HIV Testing and Awareness Campaign

Philly Faith in Action, in partnership with the Greater Than AIDS campaign, launched a new HIV testing and awareness campaign in Philadelphia this week. Billboards placed around the city feature faith leaders who have played important roles in the local fight against HIV/AIDS. The campaign’s billboards encourage the Philadelphia community to get tested for HIV. Online videos profile the extraordinary leadership of Pastor Alyn Waller, Pastor Arthur White, Pastor Jonathan Ford and Brother Rafiyq Friend in promoting HIV testing.Click on the billboard images below to watch each faith leader’s video.

Greater Than AIDS is a national HIV/AIDS awareness campaign that aims to elevate the public’s knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS and confront the stigma surrounding the disease. This is the Greater than AIDS campaign’s first faith campaign nationwide.

On Saturday, September 29th from 8AM-1PM, Temple University will host the Silent No More! Conference, a free, interactive healthy living conference for African American and Latina women, at the Howard Gittis Center. Dr. Stanley R. Berger, MD of the Association of Black Cardiologists will be the keynote speaker. The day will include continental breakfast and lunch, panel discussion, line dancing and zumba, a gospel performance by Chosen Elect and more!
